All of our doctors are graduates of the university of Queensland (UQ) medical school and are fellows of FRACP.
Dr John Gibbons is a fully qualified and experienced consultant gastroenterologist. His special interests are inflammatory bowel disease, therapeutic endoscopy and colonoscopy as well as ERCP.

ERCP is a highly specialised endoscopic procedure that examines the bile ducts near the liver, gall bladder and pancreas. It is performed by Dr John gibbons at the mater private hospital, South Brisbane. Generally, patients are referred for a consultation prior to this procedure.

Dr Gibbons performs procedures at:

  • Eastern Endoscopy Centre (Monday and Thursday)
  • Mater Private Endoscopy Unit (Friday)
  • Sunny Bank Private Hospital (Tuesday)

Our doctors perform a variety of procedures including gastroscopy (upper endoscopy), colonoscopy, therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP, capsule endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound.
