We have no hot water, can you help us?

What can I do to stop toilet that keeps on running?
Usually at the bottom right or left side of the toilet, there will be an isolation tap; just turn it clockwise to isolate the water. If this fails to stop the water running, turn the water off at the water meter at the front of the property. Please phone Payneham Plumbing for further assistance.

What do I do if I smell gas?
Go to the gas meter and turn the handle till it is across the direction of the pipe. Then phone Payneham Plumbing. If after you have closed the isolation valve at the gas meter and you can still smell gas, call your gas supplier the number should be on your gas bill.

What do I need if I have an emergency and my pipes are leaking?
If it is hot water, there will be a shut-off tap usually at the base of the hot water heater. Turn it clockwise and then turn on a hot tap to release the pressure from the hot water heater. If it is the hot water heater which is leaking, turn off the power to the heater. You will find a switch in the meter box, for a gas unit a gas tap will be at the base of the heater turn the valve so the lever is across the direction of the pipe.

If your hot water heating unit is gas and your other gas appliances are working fine then call Payneham Plumbing.
