FAQs

  • Are you mobile?

No, we are salon-based but we can pick up and deliver for a small fee.

  • When should you start grooming?

You should start the grooming process at 8/12 weeks, as soon as all shots have been administered but in saying that only baths, brushing and a little scissoring. Its very important the dog is introduced properly. We repeat that for a few visits until we see the dog is ready for the next step, every dog is different so some may need less or more, haircuts usually start around 4-5 months as by then they are mentally old enough to enjoy the experience, sit still and get a great haircut, etc.

  • Do we sedate the dogs while grooming them?

We never sedate the dogs while grooming them. It is not required if grooming is done properly, we are not vets and have no right administering medication to a dog. If the owner wishes that, they must get a vet prescription and administer the medication themselves, but I would recommend you not to use such things.

  • How often can I wash my dog?

The more u wash and nurture the dogs coat the better , as long as you are using a good quality shampoo but , Once every 2 weeks preferably, but if you bring them to us I would say come every 6 weeks depending on coat type for a professional groom. It's not good for your dog's coat to be washed too much, the natural oils get stripped and that's when you start causing problems in your dog's coat. The rite shampoo type is essential.

  • How do I bath my dog?

Always brush before bathing, never the other way around, all knots must be removed before adding water. If not it will make the knots worse. Wet your dog for a long time as it takes a while for the water to penetrate the skin, then use the rite shampoo for your dogs’ skin type and rinse off the shampoo really well. Then dry your dog and if your dog has long hair make sure you brush the hair with a fine tooth comb to separate the hair, if you don't you will cause knots.

  • Do you use different shampoos for different skin types?

Yes always use a shampoo that suits your dog's skin type.

  • How do I prevent knots?

The best way is to use a fine tooth comb all over and when the dog gets wet after it has dried naturally, separate the hair. That will prevent a knot from appearing.

  • Have you trained at school and are we certified ?

Yes, I have I trained at the academy of dog grooming and also have many years' experience since I began in 2001. I also hold a cert 3 in pet grooming and dog handling certificate.

  • How much does grooming cost?

To get a better idea on how much a groom will cost for your dog its best to give us a call, seeing every dog is different I can't really price without meeting your dog first, we always do a free meet and greet for your first time anyway so we can meet your dog, get a feel of ware they stand in grooming, their temperament , coat condition and discuss pricing as well, as all those factors can effect pricing in different ways so it's guessing without knowing the factors I mentioned.

  • Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, booking in advance helps me service your little ones better, so please give us a call and we can book an appointment time.
